Vincentian writes book on Rastafari
Persons who need to learn about the role that Rastafari has played in the social movement of the world have some resource material in the book: “Rastafari – A Contemporary Theological Social Movement”.
Authored by Vincentian – Ian “Ras Chikuyu” Hypolite, the 94-page book seeks to educate its readers on the development of the Rastafari movement.
Hypolite said he was inspired to write his first book and chose such a topic, because there are many misconceptions about Rastafari.
He noted that as a consequence, the book took an enormous amount of time to write, as he “wanted it to do true justice to the topic.”
In the book, Hypolite provides readers with some of the aspects of Rastafari movement which can help reshape and retrain the minds of others.
An excerpt of the book, states: “As members of a Contemporary Theological Social Movement we must amalgamate and unify, let posterity honour our names, by becoming greater than our individual mansions to eradicate the anomie of a white supremacist society and fulfil the vision of a single African brotherhood bending its united efforts toward the achievement of a greater and nobler goal.”
Another segment of book advises, “We must look into the depths of our souls, overcome the petty prejudices and refrain from giving our allegiance to any nation. We must stand firm, have courage
and agitate for our human family and community. The way will be perilous, and sacrifice will be demanded of us in the name of Africa and all African peoples at home and abroad.”
Pleased with his first effort, Hypolite, who resides in Toronto, Canada, said that efforts are being made to have the book available as resource material for libraries as persons with inquiring minds, learn more.
Hypolite expressed hope that readers of his book can become better critical thinkers and acknowledge that Rastafari continues to play a part in the social movement of the world.
Hypolite disclosed that persons wishing to get a copy of “Rastafari – A Contemporary Theological Social Movement”, may do so from Amazon online bookstore.
