Calliaqua Anglican gets 12 laptops, printer and software
The Calliaqua Anglican School received a boost to their Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure last Friday.
The improvement came through the donation of 12 laptops, a printer, 12 external CD hard drives, and learning software valued at around US$4000.
Handing over the items to principal Corselle Smith were Kevin Bonadie (former student), Keino Baird, Lutell Haynes, Jennifer Miller-Albert and Sandra Carol-Gordon esq.
Bonadie and his group are part of an entity known as Well Spring Leadership Development Corporation.
During the handing over ceremony, Bonadie said that as a past student, he wants to make sure students at his alma mater are well prepared for the future.
He added that today’s students are the future leaders.
“All of us we are born with greatness. When I look at you, I am not just seeing kids running about having fun,” said Bonadie.
He added that he works in real estate in the United States and every time he goes to work, he does it with the school in mind and with the intention of helping the students at the institution.
“It doesn’t matter the circumstances of birth, you are not a mistake, you are a significant part of this community, you are a significant part of this nation, and you are important to the future of the nation,” commented Bonadie.
On accepting, principal Smith said the school is grateful for the donation.
“We want to make ensure that technology should be a part of education. We are living in a technological age where students are acquainted with smart phones,” said Smith.
She said the school had one computer so they are grateful for the addition and the laptops will be used by both teachers and students.
“We have software now where students can actually go on and teachers will guide them and they are able to develop themselves in phonics, maths, science and language skill,” said Smith who added that they are also grateful for the printer.
On Friday, the group also did development training with several teachers.
