Uncle Skinny’s Winter Wonderland is coming

CHILDREN AROUND St Vincent and the Grenadines are asked to look out for the Uncle Skinny’s Winter Wonderland which will be held on December 21 and 22 at the Victoria Park.

A release from the organizers said the event promises all the fun and splendour of the Uncle Skinny Kids Carnival that the public has grown to love, coupled with the magic of Christmas.

On the first day of the event, a secondary schools’ carolling competition featuring 10 of the island’s best school choirs will compete with two Christmas songs – a traditional song and an original piece.

Each school would have six minutes to render their selections in the ‘Winner Takes All’ competition. The winning choir would receive $2000 worth of musical instruments and musical supplies, one month’s free lunch on the school feeding program for all members of the choir or a choir party fully paid for; they would be guest performers on Rodney Small’s Steel Expressions show to be held on December 29 2018 at the Arnos Vale Playing Field; and they would receive a one track studio recording at Kubiyashi Productions. The other awards on the show would include Best in Traditional song, Best in Original song, Choir with the most vibes and so forth.

On that Friday, Victoria Park will open its gates at 2 pm. Between the hours of 2 pm and 6 pm, a mini fair that would be perfect for children of all ages will take place. This would include photo booths with printed photos, bouncing castles, the human gyroscope, a rock climbing wall, trampolines, basketball games, paintball and a whole lot more! At 6pm, the competition will commence.

On the second day, Saturday, December 22, when the gates open at 10 am, patrons can expect all the exciting attractions and rides they’ve experienced in the Uncle Skinny’s Kids Carnival.

Attractions include water world, go karts, power wheels, a pirate ship, photos with all your favorite cartoon characters, dips and punchboards, a tea party and in keeping with the Christmas spirit, Santa Claus and his helpers, and an igloo filled with snow. Activities conclude at 9 pm which gives patrons more time to visit attractions and use their chits.

The event is sponsored by SEARCHLIGHT and the Sound of the Nation – NBC Radio.

“Look out for a lot of ticket giveaways and updates on their social media pages as well as a lot of other things in store. Also KFC, NIS, OT Tyres are all a part of the Uncle Skinny Family of Sponsors which we are forever grateful for,” the release said.

“Our event is a family oriented one. The aim is to have the entire family attend and enjoy together as a unit. We anticipate the carolling competition will create a nationwide excitement not only among participating schools but among other schools and adults as well,” the release said.
