Three Vincentians make the CAPE 2018 Regional Merit List

Vincentian Gerard Porter has recorded the highest mark for CAPE Pure Mathematics Unit II, in the entire region for 2018.

He is one of three Vincentians who appear on the CAPE 2018 Regional Merit List, which was published by the Caribbean Examinations Council on October 30.

Porter shares the top spot with three students from Trinidad and Tobago.

Porter is also St Vincent and the Grenadines’ top performer for CAPE in 2018 and was recently awarded a national scholarship, earning himself full funding for a 5-year period of study. He was also given the Prime Minister’s Award; a gold medal and $10,000.

The two other Vincentians who appear on the 2018 Merit List are Jevonique Edwards and Sachi Sutherland who were ranked 5th and 8th respectively in Green Engineering Unit 1.

A release from the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College said “… The SVGCC especially commends the students of Green Engineering Unit 1, as the subject was first introduced at the beginning of the 2017/2018 school year.”

The release also thanked the students, parents and lecturers for their hard work in the academic year 2017-2018.

“Special mention must be made of the following lecturers whose students have achieved the above rankings in the mentioned subject areas: Mr Allanson Cruickshank – Green Engineering Unit 1, and Mrs Dawn Scott and Mr Wayne Young -Pure Mathematics Unit 2,” the release said.

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College, in the release wished the students all the best in their future endeavours.
