Teacher died from manual strangulation – autopsy

An autopsy carried out on the body of teacher Shania Johnson revealed that she died from manual strangulation.

The cause of death was revealed to SEARCHLIGHT on Tuesday by the deceased woman’s mother, Burdetta Johnson. Manual strangulation is choking using the fingers or other extremity.

Shania’s death has now been officially recorded as this country’s 29th homicide for the year.

Her body was found in the bush at Akers last Sunday morning November 4. The 18-year-old mother of one was reported missing in the afternoon of November 2 after she did not return home from a trip to Kingstown.

Burdetta told SEARCHLIGHT that the Friday her daughter went missing, one of her nieces called Shania’s phone and a male answered and said Shania was dead.

Shania would have celebrated her 19th birthday this Saturday November 10.
