JCI St Vincent wins awards at JCI West Indies 58th National Convention

JCI St Vincent captured both the public speaking championship award and the debating championship award at the JCI West Indies 58th National Convention held in Grenada from October 10 to 14.

The convention saw attendance of members from 10 countries; Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Martinique, Trinidad, Tobago, St. Vincent and Suriname.

President Gabriel Glasgow led a delegation of nine members from JCI St Vincent to participate in the annual convention which saw a number of training sessions and forums being held all geared towards developing its members.

This year saw the first JCI Facilitator course being offered by JCI to its members and JCI West Indies was the first National organization to participate in the course which was presented by the JCI International Vice President, Rajiv Hiaralal of Suriname. Proud participants of the course from JCI St Vincent are Vice President Shanniese Stewart, Public Relations Officer Terrance Williams and Member Nick Francis.

JCI St Vincent was successful at capturing both the public speaking championship award and the debating championship award. Member Rhealyn Burke was the proud award winner of the public speaking competition while Secretary General Shaquille Lewis, Member Nick Francis with team captain President Gabriel Glasgow were the proud winners of the debating championship competition.

President Gabriel stated that she was excited to take her wonderful team with her to convention but even more happy and grateful that they were able to successfully won both awards and she thanks her members for their tremendous support and guidance.

The 58th National Convention also hosted the elections for the ensuing year which saw the 2019 board members; National President elect Khaleid Holder of Barbados, National Executive Vice President elect Charlene Corbin of JCI Barbados and National Vice Presidents elect Dorothy Peters-Nichols of JCI Antigua and Brettney Romeo of JCI Tobago.
