Church of Latter-days Saints donates medical supplies to G’town Health Centre

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints donated a number of items to the Georgetown Health Centre in a handing over ceremony held at the modern medical diagnostic complex on Monday August 27.

The items donated included fans, wheelchairs, stethoscopes, sheets and other medical items.

This small humanitarian project, according to Elder Michael Fielden and Sister Evon Fielden has been one of their favorites because of the response of residents of Georgetown.

They said that the church’s congregation in Georgetown found joy and satisfaction in their community service to clean and paint rooms at the Health Centre.

The Fieldens said they were impressed with the hard working nurses and the essential services they provide for people in this area of St Vincent.

The couple said Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health Cuthbert Knights has been essential to the project as he was able to make suggestions to include wall fans. Deputy Hospital Administrator Idinga Miller chaired the proceedings and thanked the Church and its representatives for the kind and timely donations. Other members of staff including Registrar Dr Ama Martin expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the church and its members for the works done and contribution made.
