Pricilla James Foundation donates school supplies to over 700 children

Over the past seven years, the Pricilla James Foundation under the auspices of the Peters family of Rillan Hill has provided the less fortunate with backpacks filled with school supplies.

This year, the Foundation made presentations to 724 children in 11 villages across St Vincent including Barrouallie, Buccament, Enhams, Georgetown, Lowmans Hill, Penniston, Purivan Vale, Questelles, Rillan Hill, Sandy Bay and Vermont.

The children received much needed school supplies and toiletries. They were selected under strict guidelines set by the family. It was determined that only absolutely needy children with no other means of purchasing a backpack would be selected.

The Foundation’s primary goal is to strive for educational excellence as a way out of poverty. The children are encouraged to do their best and to never give up on their educational dreams.
This is something that the members of the Peters’ family know very well. After leaving St Vincent for the United States of America, each member of the family has gone on to receive a master’s degree. They have striven for excellence and have persevered and achieved their dreams and now encourage others to do the same.

As with every Foundation, there are members of the community and local businesses that have contributed to make these events successful.

The Foundation expressed thanks to Vee Jays Restaurant, Allan’s Smith & Family Bakery, General & Maritime Agencies Limited, Harmony Investments and all the other individuals who stepped forward and offered transportation, and other services as needed.

“We have had a very successful year and look forward to serving the children of St. Vincent for many years to come,” a release from the Foundation said.
