Diamond Village to mark Emancipation Day

The Diamond Village Community Heritage Organisation, under the leadership of the late Bro. Oscar Allen, has, in the recent past, been the self-appointed holder of “the franchise” for the yearly celebration to mark Emancipation Day in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. To this end, this year’s activities will be celebrated under the theme “Reflecting on the past, charting the future”.

The annual march and vigil will take place today, July 31, the eve of Emancipation Day, at Earlene Horne Square in Diamond Village. This activity will include:

* Praise and worship

* Rally and Reflections

* Torchlight March

* Reading of the proclamation order

The guest speakers for the night will be Renwick Rose and area representative Saboto Caesar. The rally is expected to begin at 9 p.m.
