Coconut Festival at Vincy Innovation Expo 2018

Invest SVG, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Commerce, will be hosting a Coconut Festival at the Vincy Innovators Expo today, Friday, July 27, from 9 a.m. at the Alliance Francaise (the old public library) in Kingstown.

The Coconut Festival is a unique exhibition aimed at promoting crops and agricultural industries, primarily the value chain of coconuts. This event will showcase various levels of production and manufacturing, and is expected to stimulate an integration and expansion of businesses through networking. To this end, exhibitors will be given the opportunity to display their products and services. As a product that already boasts flexibility in its use, this event will not only emphasize the existing versatility of the coconut as a food item, but will simultaneously demonstrate its usefulness so as to maximize the potential products and services from which benefits could be provided.

The Vincy Innovation Expo is an initiative introduced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Commerce in conjunction with the Permanent Mission of St Vincent and the Grenadines to the United Nations Exposition in recognition of “World Creativity and Innovation Day”. This day is celebrated annually on April 21, and is aimed at raising awareness of the role of creativity and innovation in problem-solving, with the overall goal being that of sustainable development.

Vincy Innovation Expo and Coconut Festival 2018 is intended to showcase a wide range of local creations and modernisations, inclusive of Information Technology, Agriculture, Engineering, Architecture, Culinary Arts, and Local Crafts.

Residents of, and visitors to St Vincent and the Grenadines will have the opportunity to enjoy some of the country’s best food, drinks, arts, and craft at this event showcasing the different ways in which coconut can be utilized to make a variety of products; a special highlight will include tastings of some of the products.
