Woman beaten to death – Police Report

A funeral service will be held next Wednesday, June 27 for Antonia ‘Toni’ Rose-Carter, who was beaten to death last Friday at Queen’s Drive.

Rose-Carter, 69, was found bound and hanging at the residence of her brother Dexter Rose on June 15 at around 5:30 p.m.

A resident of New York, Rose-Carter was in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) for the funeral of her mother Germaine “Granny Rose” Rose who was buried on May 26.

Relatives say the retired woman had spent the day at home alone.

Her body was discovered by her sister-in-law, Lotier Rose.

A relative told SEARCHLIGHT that Antonia’s hands and feet were tied, she was gagged and there were visible signs of trauma about her body.

A police report said she was killed between 7:15 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., with the cause of death being “beating her about her body.”

A source close to the investigation told SEARCHLIGHT that there were no signs of forced entry to the house and while the house was ransacked, very few items of value appear to have been stolen from the dead woman or from the premises.

The investigator in the case is Sergeant 643 Quow.

Rose-Carter, a retired New York City council worker was the mother of three adult children and was scheduled to return to the United States soon.

Her killing is recorded as the eighth violent death in SVG this year and the only woman to be killed so far in 2018.

The funeral service for Rose-Carter will be held at the Faith Temple Church at New Montrose on June 27, beginning at 2:30 pm.

Her body will be sent back to New York for burial.
