SVG records three shootings in 18 days

This country has recorded three shootings in 18 days with no one being charged.

An investigation was launched on Monday, May 28 at 2:45 p.m. after Brian Robinson, a 35-year-old labourer of Rilland Hill told police that he was shot on Friday, May 18 at 5:30 p.m. Robinson said he was wounded by an unknown person, who shot him on the right side of his chest at Rilland Hill.

Then on Tuesday May 29, at Hollywood, Redemption Sharpes at around 3:45 p.m., Kanute “Jesse” Bess was shot about five times about his body. He was rushed to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH) and survived. Bess operates an Ital shop and was released from prison last year after serving time for several offences.

The latest shooting came last Monday June 4 at 9:35 p.m. in Layou.

According to reports, Ken “Stranger” Cain, a 32-year-old Chauffeur of Layou had just finished working and was on his way home when an unknown gunman came up behind him and pointed a gun at his neck.

The gun man, according to reports turned out Cain’s pockets and relieved him of EC$410. Cain then began fighting with the gunman and was shot in the left side of his head.

He was rushed to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH) where he is reported to be in stable condition.

Investigations into all three incidents are ongoing.
