Park Hill man to stand trial for two counts of attempted murder
A Park Hill man, on two attempted murder charges, will stand trial at the High Court after the Serious Offence Court has determined that there is sufficient evidence.
Lennie Baynes was previously charged that on October 8, in Belle Vue, he committed the offences of damage to property, aggravated burglary, the unlawful and malicious wounding of one Darwin Pope, attempting to murder Kennesha Sutherland, and attempting to murder Bernadette Sutherland.
After seven witnesses, including relatives Kennesha and Bernadette Sutherland who is the accused’s ex-girlfriend, the preliminary inquiry into the matter ended last week Wednesday. Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne-Matthias indicated that she found that there was enough evidence to send the matter for trial at the High Court.
Baynes, who was not represented by an attorney, chose to reserve his defence for the High Court.
