More talks on cancer, HPV

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment will host a series of town hall meetings in the communities of Mesopotamia, Questelles, Georgetown, Biabou, Kingstown and Bequia to discuss cancer prevention and the HPV vaccine in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).

The next scheduled meeting will be held on Monday, November 20, at 5:30 in Questelles at the Learning Resource Centre.

These meetings are intended to facilitate discussions between the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment and community members on the prevention of cancer in SVG and the HPV vaccine.

On Tuesday, November 21, a discussion will be held at Biabou at the Learning Resource Centre, from 5:30 p.m. On Wednesday, November 22, the discussion will move to the Lodge Village Government School, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Georgetown’s discussion will take place on Thursday, November 23, from 5:30 p.m. at the Georgetown Secondary School.

On Monday, November 27, the discussion will take place at the Catholic Pastoral Centre at Edinboro from 5:30 p.m.; then on Wednesday, November 22 and Thursday, November 23, the discussions will take place at the Bequia Anglican High School and the Paget Farm Community Centre respectively. On Tuesday, November 28, a discussion will be held at the Mesopotamia Primary School.

Speakers will include representatives from the National Focal Point for Immunization in the Ministry of Health, medical doctors as well as cancer survivors and doctors.

There will be an open floor for residents to voice concerns and ask questions.
