‘Lay minister’ accused of child molestation given bail

Delroy Fraser, a 39-year-old irrigation technician of Canouan, who is charged with unlawful sexual intercourse with an eight-year-old girl, has been given bail in the sum of EC$8,000, with one surety.

As part of his bail conditions, Fraser has been ordered to surrender all his travel documents; he must have no contact with the complainant; and he must report to the Canouan Police Station every Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

He returns to court on December 14, 2017.

Fraser was charged at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Kingstown on Wednesday, September 13 and was taken to the Family Court on Thursday, September 14, where he was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP), but later given bail.  

Fraser is accused of committing the unlawful act between 2014 and 2017. The accused is a lay minister attached to a church on the Grenadine island where he lives.
