Courts partners with SCORCH in fight against cancer
President of SCORCH Cancer Support Foundation Dr Jozelle Miller says she is thankful that Courts St Vincent Ltd has partnered with her organization in the fight against cancer.
Miller noted that Courtsâ decision to donate to the fight against cancer through its âYour Perfect Day starts tonightâ bedding campaign shows that the furniture/appliance/electronics and optical provider is in tune with the community it serves, and she and the organization are happy to collaborate on the promotion.
âCourtsâ contribution to SCORCH is nothing short of a blessing. It shows a keen interest in taking up corporate social responsibility as a corporate entity, while simultaneously encouraging efforts of citizens moving together to make a big difference in the lives of others. We are tremendously grateful to Courts for supporting the movement without hesitation,â Miller said.
During the September bedding month campaign, Courts donated a portion of every mattress or bedding purchase to SCORCH, while giving customers the opportunity to make no downpayment and nothing to pay for 60 days.
SCORCH is a non-profit community-based voluntary organization, which was created for the primary purpose of providing support to persons affected by any type of cancer. With the alarming incidence of cancer in our state, the group was established, with its first meeting held on January 18, 2014. It was launched in August 2014.
Their key objective is to offer support by providing any information on research or any new development as it relates to the holistic care of cancer diagnoses, be it medically, nutritionally, emotionally, or psychologically. One of the most important services this group provides is in the area of counselling. Members receive both individual and group therapy, with the purpose of offering psychological support for clients, as well as their families.
Courts commercial officer Lisa Veira, who handed over the cheque for XCD$4,760, indicated that the collaborative effort with SCORCH is in line with the companyâs policy of being a corporate citizen and partner in any effort to lift the welfare of Vincentians.
âWe are pleased to work alongside Dr Miller and her team in this endeavour. We believe that what they are doing fits perfectly into our plan to provide not only the best products and services, but also to provide help to those who are fighting against CANCER. By shopping at Courts, Customers not only purchased the best brand and product, but they got the added opportunity to donate to a worthy cause,â Veira said.
