Conductor dies after falling, being dragged by truck

A 23-year-old conductor of Belmont died in a trucking mishap over the weekend.

Around 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, Aleike “Step” Gibson fell from a truck (T 8920), while it was travelling on the Belmont public road. Reports are that he was dragged and succumbed to his injuries.

The truck is owned by Lesline Davis, but was being driven by Dwight Davis (both of Belmont) at the time of the accident.

Gibson is being referred to as the third road fatality of 2017, but he could be the fourth, depending on what an autopsy that is pending on Michael “Bully” Edwards says.

Edwards, 50, was found in the public road in Spring, Lowmans Hill, on Wednesday, September 27 and police say he was more than likely killed during a hit and run, but they are awaiting the autopsy before making an official statement.
