Colonarie resident loses leg in accident
A collision last Sunday between a minivan and a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) has resulted in a 54-year-old man losing his leg.
Colonarie resident Wendell Toney is recovering at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH), having undergone surgery on his left leg, which he lost in a head on collision at Argyle around 8:18 p.m.
Police say that Toney was driving a Toyota Hiace minivan, HN754,
heading to Colonarie with two passengers when a Nissan Pathfinder, P1277, driven by Allan Alexander, heading into Kingstown, overtook a vehicle; the minivan and SUV collided.
Reports are that Toneyâs leg was severed on the spot, before he was removed from the mangled wreck and rushed to the MCMH.
The two passengers in the vehicle, Sydney King, 49 of Byera and Tyrique Rose, 23 of Mt Grenan, as well as Alexander, were treated at the MCMH and discharged.
Toney is an employee of the St Vincent Electricity Services (VINLEC) and drives his minivan part time, while Alexander is a senior public servant and acting executive director of Invest SVG.
