Maria Holder Memorial Trust donates to hospital

The Barbados-based Maria Holder Memorial Trust (MHMT) handed over a cheque of US$500,000 to the World Pediatric Project (WPP) at the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment on Wednesday.

The donation will be used to support the work of the WPP in performing life-saving surgeries on children at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH). Children from all over the OECS come to SVG for medical attention under cooperation agreements.

In the past year, the MHMT made other donations for the purpose of strengthening the delivery of health care services in this country. The Trust provided beds for the recently re-opened and renovated Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre; EKG machines, ultrasound machines and other similar items for rural hospitals and health centres to assist with childbirth; and all the equipment for the refurbished kitchen at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

The total value of MHMT donations to health in SVG in the past 12 months (including the WPP donation) is around US$1 million.

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment would like to thank the MHMT and the WPP for their kind generosity and the role they are playing in our health services.
