18-year-old Sandy Bay accused charged with murder

A murder charge has been laid against Jurani “Wanny” Baptiste, a Sandy Bay teen who was apprehended by police last month after a series of gruesome murders were committed within four hours.

When the 18-year-old appeared before the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court yesterday, he was charged with the murder of Pamela Williams, a retired nurse who was viciously beaten in her Kingstown Park home on November 14, 2016.

Baptiste was not allowed to enter a plea, as the charge is indictable and the matter was adjourned and transferred to Serious Offences Court for December 12, 2016.

The teen is also a person of interest in the murders of Nicholas Layne, Avis Israel and her son Ronald Israel who were killed earlier that same night.

Up to the time of her death, Williams was a nurse at the Thompson Home. (AS)
