VINLEC utility pole set on fire

Police are investigating an incident at Yambou in which a St Vincent Electricity Services Ltd (VINLEC) utility pole was set on fire on Thursday, January 7.

At 7:23 that morning, VINLEC received a call that the utility pole was on fire. On investigation, remnants of a burnt tyre were found at the base of the pole.

A VINLEC official told SEARCHLIGHT, “We are convinced that this is a deliberate attempt to destroy the pole and cause interruption to the electricity supply.”
