RC reaches out to flood victims formerly housed at Rillan Hill Community Centre

A helping hand has been extended to flood victims who had temporarily been housed at the Rillan Hill Community Centre.

Last Friday, the Stewardship and Development Commission of the Roman Catholic Church in St Vincent and the Grenadines, in partnership with the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) visited the victims of the floods of December 2013, who have since been relocated by the Government.{{more}}

The assistance by the church is in keeping with a re-commitment to its Integral Human Development efforts. The funds for the donation were received from ‘Caritas Antilles’ in St Lucia, which is part of an international Catholic relief development and social service organization.

“Although these flood victims had been re-housed by Government and provided for through various relief efforts, there remained a need for personal and household items and pastoral care. The Stewardship and Development Commission, along with the Biblical Commission attempted to fulfil that need on Friday, July 24. The residents, now located at Hope and Hope Flat, expressed their gratitude for the items and agreed that it is never too late to help,” a release from the church said.
