The final LIME sponsored fish fest night, leading up to the highly anticipated Fishermanâs Day festivities was considered to be arguably the largest of those that took place.{{more}}
The event, organized by the Fisheries Department in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries as part of Fishermanâs Day celebrations, took place on Friday, May 22 and saw persons from all parts of the island converging in the Rose Place, Bottom Town area to join with local fisherfolk to enjoy a wide variety of seafood prepared on the spot.
Last Fridayâs event also saw the staging of the Man versus Seafood competition, which was the most anticipated part of the event, during which competitors battled to see who could consume a dish of raw seafood, including sea cockroaches, fish, octopus, sea eggs and squid, among other delicacies.
On that night, one brave woman joined the four men who started at the table, but at the end, only two were able to put away the menu placed before them.
Winning the âiron stomachâ competition was Lindon Ash, while Maurice John placed second.
The winner received a brand new waterproof cell phone with free data, compliments LIME.
As part of its upgrade of the fish fest, LIME plans to take the celebrations throughout St Vincent and the Grenadines all year round, as it promotes healthy living and eating, while doing its part to encourage Vincentians to âput a fish on their dishâ.
