Harry receives prizes for winning Courts Reading Competition

Rheanna Harry was her usual smiling self, as she collected her prizes on Wednesday, for winning this year’s local leg of the Courts Reading Competition.

Harry, a grade five pupil of the Windsor Primary School, topped six other students in September to earn a chance to represent {{more}}St Vincent and the Grenadines at the OECS finals in Grenada two weeks later.

Although the nine-year-old did not place among the top three in the regional competition, by all accounts Harry gave a creditable performance in the keenly contested finals, which was eventually won by Dominica.

At the Courts training room this week, Harry was once again in the spotlight as she received her prizes, something she said she was looking forward to.

These prizes, handed over by Courts senior manager Michele Samuel, included a laptop computer and $1,000, compliments Courts St Vincent Limited, cash for the opening of a bank account, compliments Rochelle A Forde Law Firm, and a tablet and one year’s e-subscription to SEARCHLIGHT, compliments Interactive Media Ltd, publishers of SEARCHLIGHT.

SEARCHLIGHT’s administrative manager Teshorne Caine handed over the prizes to Harry and joined with the other presenters in congratulating her on a job well done. Caine encouraged the lass to continue reading and to inspire others.

Young Harry said that she was pleased to receive her prizes, and said she looked forward to making good use of them all, especially the laptop.

For winning the local leg of the competition, Harry also presented a segment of the SVG TV evening news, and received a smart phone, compliments LIME.
