Caesar will replace Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves as the featured speaker at the event, which will be held at Friends of Crown Heights Community Center, 671 Prospect Place, (between Bedford and Franklin).

The event, which will also be addressed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Camillo Gonsalves and chief executive officer of the International Airport Development Company (IADC) Dr Rudy Matthias, is being organized by the Consulate of St Vincent and the Grenadines in New York.

The Prime Minister is unable to attend the town hall meeting, owing to an injury he sustained to his right thigh, which has “seriously affected his mobility,” a release from the Office of the Prime Minister said.

Prime Minister Gonsalves is presently in Cuba seeking medical attention for his injured muscle, the rectus femoris.

He left the country on Tuesday, at about midday, on an aircraft provided by the government of Venezuela. He is accompanied on the trip by his wife Eloise Gonsalves, two members of his security detail and physiotherapist Denys Byam.

The release from the Prime Minister’s office said the medical team has advised Gonsalves that recovery from this illness cannot be unduly rushed.

As a result of this development, Minister of Foreign Affairs Senator Camillo Gonsalves headed the delegation to the 69th General Assembly of the United Nations and will deliver this country’s address to the UN tomorrow, September 27. Senator Gonsalves will conduct all scheduled bi-lateral meetings, and will represent Prime Minister Gonsalves at all related meetings.

This includes a panel discussion to be hosted by the United States Congressional Black Caucus, scheduled for today in Washington, DC.
