CWSA holding free white goods collection week
The seventh free white goods collection service offered by the Central Water and Sewerage Authority is taking place this week, from September 22 to 27.{{more}}
This initiative was introduced in September of 2011 as the Authority sought to deliver to the populace and customers an even more efficient waste collection, and by extension waste management system.
There have been six such collections to date and the response from the general public is encouraging, a release from the Authority said.
âOf note is the gradual reduction in the amount of white goods collected following successive collections. In September 2011 a total of 2513.9 cubic yards of white goods was collected compared to a total of 695.83 cubic yards in March 2014,â the release said.
The CWSA/SWMU is asking all households to avail themselves of this free service and to rid their premises of discarded household white goods.
The general public is asked to note that white goods will be collected on the same day the regular garbage will be collected, and all are required to have both the white goods and regular waste at the correct points by 6 a.m. for collection.
