Eighteen young adults have been taught the skills that are needed for a smooth transition from the classroom to the workplace.

The 10th installment of the Young Employees Socialization programme, which was a collaborative effort of the Rotary Club of St Vincent {{more}}and the Eastern Caribbean Institute of Banking and Financial Services, concluded on Tuesday with a graduation ceremony for its participants.

Following the six-day programme, persons that attended are expected to be poised to enter the workplace with the necessary skills needed to excel at their job.

Sir Errol Allen was praised by Rotarians for being the one who spearheaded this year’s programme.

In closing remarks, Allen told participants that there are no shortcuts in life when it came to achieving anything worthwhile.

“Neither success nor failure should be construed as a final destination. Life is full of ups and downs, but things turn out best for those who make the best of their opportunities,” he said.

Allen also encouraged participants to make a path for themselves in life, but to be careful of the decisions that they make while doing so.

When SEARCHLIGHT arrived at the graduation ceremony, participants were highlighting some of the lessons they had learned that week, by role playing in groups.

Past president of the Rotary Club Earl Tash congratulated the participants aon completing the programme.

Stating that the Rotary Club is interested in moulding the younger generation, he urged participants to make themselves marketable and to take what they have been taught seriously.

“This programme is not the end. Actually it is the beginning for you as you continue to pursue either work or continue your educational advancement. I urge you to take this seriously,” Tash said.

In brief remarks, executive director of the Chamber of Commerce Tony Regisford and past president of the Chamber of Commerce Andrew Woodroffe also extended congratulations to the participants of the programme and wished them all the best in their future endeavours.

A reflection was also presented by one of the participants, Shaloma Jackson.

Gratitude was extended to those who made the programme a success. Included in this list was the management of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College, parents and guardians of participants, the Bank of Nova Scotia, Mrs Faisal’s catering services and the facilitators of the programme.(BK)
