McKies Hill youth shot by masked man

A 21-year-old Mckies Hill resident survived an early morning shooting that left him nursing bullet wounds at the Milton Cato Hospital.{{more}}

Police say that at about 7:45 a.m. yesterday, Xavique Baptiste was struck in his left hand by a bullet, as he walked along the Mckies Hill road.

The police source says that a masked gunman fired one shot at Baptiste as he passed an abandoned house in the area, then fled the scene.

Baptiste reported hearing a loud explosion, then feeling a stinging sensation in his left hand.

The bullet passed through the victim’s hand and lodged in his left hip.

The injured man was taken to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, where the bullet was extracted.

Up to press time yesterday, Baptiste was a patient at the hospital.

Police are investigating the incident.
