DRP assists flood victims with school preparation

Three of the disaster shelters benefitted recently from much needed donations of electrical appliances and recreational material for children through deliveries made by the Democratic Republican Party’s (DRP) leader, Anesia Baptiste.{{more}}

On Sunday, January 12, 2014, just one day before the reopening of schools here, Baptiste delivered three irons, three ironing boards and clothes hangers on behalf of an anonymous donor to shelters in Rillan Hill, Spring Village and Fitz Hughes. The DRP leader also delivered snacks of biscuits and boxed juices for children at the Fitz Hughes shelter which were provided by Premier Distributors and Facey Commodity businesses. The DRP leader also provided, from her party, recreational material, including puzzles and story books for children at the Spring Village and Fitz Hughes shelters.

The items were received by shelter managers at each shelter, who all expressed gratitude for the donations, highlighting the importance of the appliances to assist with the preparation of school clothing for the children’s recommencement of school.

Meanwhile, Baptiste, who journeyed to the shelters with her husband Calvert Baptiste and another member of the Thusia SDA church Karima Parris, spent time with children and other residents at shelters, in prayer, bible exhortation, discussion and games, as they helped to provide comfort to the victims of the recent disaster here.
