The Rubis team made deliveries of food baskets to families who were nominated by persons within the communities. The gift baskets were filled with essential food items, toiletries and other necessities, needed to brighten the lives of the less fortunate.

Rubis Retail, Commercial and Industrial Account executive Elroy Edwards said, “Christmas represents a time of giving, sharing and showing kindness and, as part of our corporate social responsibility, we believe it is our duty to give back by assisting the elderly and less fortunate in our society. We at Rubis will forever hold the elderly of St Vincent and the Grenadines in high regard and will do anything in our power to improve the socio-economic standard of the elderly.”

The initiative came in for very high praise from persons within the communities and recipients alike. According to recipient Yvette Gilbert of Calliaqua, “I am very grateful to Rubis for the food basket. I live alone with the Lord and do not have anyone to attend to me, so I am so ever thankful for this food basket.”

“I am very thankful to Rubis. This is really a surprise. I was not expecting this gift” said 91-year-old Florence Cudjoe of Peniston.

Some persons in the respective villages said the venture is a great one by Rubis. They expressed the desire that more companies will see the need to assist the elderly, especially in times like these.
