With the international airport on stream, individuals are being urged to equip themselves for the potential job market,

{{more}} by taking related courses at the St Vincent and the Grenadines National Centre of Technological Innovation (SVGNCTI).

SVGNCTI head Beverly Buchannan told SEARCHLIGHT on Tuesday, that the second year of Association of Business Executives (ABE) courses in Business Management, Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality Management, Human Resource Management and Marketing Management, and Information Technology from the British Computer Society (BCS) would be available by November this year.

She said that the courses offered could open a wide range of opportunities for the successful participants, especially with an expanding tourism market on the horizon.

“In tourism, they could become administrators, food and beverage managers et cetera, and with the IT, we have various fields in which they can become managers, engineers and so on.”

Buchannan pointed out that the courses are open to persons 18 years and older, who have a command of the English language and mathematics, and for the IT courses, some form of computer knowledge is a prerequisite, preferably COMPTIA A Plus.

She advised that the fee payments for the courses are flexible, with a payment plan in place for interested applicants, and that certificates are accredited, and can be used anywhere in the world.

“They will be in St Vincent and the Grenadines. They don’t have to leave home to get a degree; they can stay right here in St Vincent, because there is no travelling cost, there is no cost for accommodation.

“Our motto at SVGNCTI is think globally, train locally.”

Buchannan indicated that the first year of the offered courses was successful, with a majority of the participants receiving distinctions in their final exams, and one student is set to receive a joint award for a top paper.(JJ)
