The work, which is estimated to cost $1,127,414, is funded by the United Children of the World Charity, in collaboration with the Mustique Company, as a consequence of initial consultations with the World Pediatric Project.

“It is essentially a multi-phased renovation of the existing Pediatric Ward that is expected to upgrade the entire ward and provide a more caring and healing environment for paediatric patients and their families,” a release from the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment said.

The major project components include the addition of 11 pediatric beds, increasing the number from 25 to 36; converting the outpatient clinic zone to a six-bed Pediatric Critical Care Unit that includes one burn unit bed; and creating additional toilet facilities and storage space.

Irvine Contractors has been awarded the job, which is proposed to be completed in 40 weeks.
