Hectic two weeks for Miss SVG

Miss SVG 2013 Shara George has described the first two weeks of her reign as hectic. The Cane Garden resident told SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday that since winning the crown, her focus has been on preparing for the upcoming Miss Carival pageant.{{more}}

George, who was sponsored by her employer the Mustique Company Ltd, emerged victorious over seven other hopefuls on June 1, at the 2013 Miss SVG pageant, held at Carnival City, Victoria Park.

The last time a Vincentian won a Miss Carival crown was in 2008, when Ronique Dellimore did the honours.

Twenty-two-year-old George said she is aware that her task will be difficult, as she seeks to bring home the crown to end the five-year drought.

“I know I have to put in a lot of hard work.

“My game face is on and I am going to put my best foot forward and do the best I can,” she said.

“I am going to bring my personality to the stage, which is a very bubbly one and hopefully that gives me the edge,” George added.

Of the four categories judged at the Miss SVG pageant, George won the “best in evening gown” category.

Her gown, “Isere Savoy”, was designed by local designer Kimon Baptiste, who for the fourth consecutive year designed the winning dress. (AA)
