In their annual End of Year Charts Countdown broadcast Monday, Fya Empress took the number one spot with her hit song “Rum Please”, which was adjudged to be the most played song for the year on the radio station.

The annual countdown, which ranks the top 103 songs, based on airplay throughout the year, also takes into account the key players in the Hitz 103.7 weekly Top Ten at 10 p.m. Charts, which takes place each Saturday.

Shaunelle Mac Kenzie, Skinny Fabulous and Fireman were also ranked 5th, 7th and 10th respectively. RDX’s ‘Jump’, Damian Marley’s popular hit ‘Affairs of the Heart’ and Mavado’s ‘Box of Money’ placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. Both Skinny Fabulous and Fya Empress also had songs in the Top 20, while Icon’s ‘Bicycle Wine’ was ranked no.17.

Fast rising dancehall artiste Tommy Lee Sparta was named ‘Breakout Artiste of 2012’, a title which was previously held by Skinny Fabulous. Lee, who is a member of the Vybz Kartel led Portmore Empire, broke into the music scene in 2011 and has never slowed down. One of his biggest hits ‘Holding Out the Pressure’ was released on the Gangsta City Riddim; most of his songs are in heavy rotation on radio stations locally and across international radio stations.

The Hitz 103.7 End of Year Countdown is the only official chart in SVG based on airplay.
