Corporal Milford Edwards of the Narcotics Unit was shot while on duty at Rose Place on December 5.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ag) Michael Charles told SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday that Edwards was shot in the upper right arm.

And police have concluded that the shooting resulted from friendly fire, but the investigation has not been closed, Charles further said.

Charles told SEARCHLIGHT last week that something went wrong and the officer was shot.

The police had initially withheld the name of the injured officer until his next of kin was informed of the incident.

Charles said the hierarchy of the Police Force had visited the injured cop at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

Visitors included Commissioner of Police Keith Miller and the chair of the Police Welfare Association, Sergeant Brenton Smith. (DD)
