VincyKlus celebrates

VincyKlus Inc, an agribusiness cluster in St Vincent and the Grenadines, is celebrating its second anniversary with a series of activities this week.{{more}}

The celebrations are being held under the theme “Improving agro-processing clusters for economic development”.

The activities include radio quizzes Monday and Wednesday on Hitz FM, which will afford listeners opportunities to win prizes for answering questions about VincyKlus, whose services include advocacy and lobbying, marketing and promotion, information and education, business support, finance and credit.

A half-day seminar on “Understanding the Value Chain for Cluster: Improving access to Markets” is slated for today — Tuesday — at the Fisheries Conference Room.

The seminar will be conducted by business consultant Simone Murray.

This afternoon, VincyKlus members will gather at the same venue for their annual general meeting at 1:30, which will see the election of a new executive committee to run the cluster’s affairs.

One of the main positions up for election is that of president — made vacant a few months ago after the former president, Norville Abraham, resigned.

The activities will conclude with a meet and greet at The Bridge House Restaurant from 5 p.m.

This event will see members of the group displaying their products/services while they interact.

The guest speaker at the meet and greet will be Kozel Fraser-Peters, manager of WINFA, while Minister of Agriculture Saboto Caesar will deliver remarks.

VincyKlus was founded on September 16, 2010, under a special initiative by the Centre for Enterprise Development Inc, through its EU-funded Business Gateway Project.

It was officially launched on November 10, 2012.

The cluster’s main objective is to increase and strengthen the capability of individual producers, through export development training, marketing and promotions, and information support, in order to enhance and develop the export capacity of firms to take full advantage of market access opportunities.

Its membership comprises persons, enterprises, institutions and agencies that constitute the value chain for agri-business development in SVG.
