This year, the theme was chosen so as to highlight the work of young business persons in the country and to encourage the club members to strive for excellence.

On November 5, Simone Thomas of Si Floral & Exquisite Things shared with club members how she started her business and encouraged them to get involved in some form of craft making. Tuesday saw a presentation being made by Rickisha Wynne, a past student of the school who operates a small business, selling cakes, jewelry and bags. Wynne began her business operation while she was a Form 4 student of the school and has since involved her mother in the operation and expansion of their business enterprise.

Kenrick Quashie, managing director of Youth Business SVG, made his presentation on Wednesday of Business Week and in so doing, informed the Elites how they could obtain funding for their business ventures. He also encouraged the club to become a part of Achievers International and promised to work with the club as it continues to develop.

On Thursday it was time to plan the first ever sports day for the club, which took place in Bequia on November 9, as part of the school’s annual boatride. A presentation of 30 cans of tuna was also made to the Old Hegg Turtle Sanctuary, which recently received a four-star rating from Travel Advisor.

On Saturday, over 70 members of the Club gathered at SJCK for the annual spiritual retreat and day of prayer under the theme “Days of youth: remember your creator while you are young.” The main presenter at the retreat was Juliana Persaud. This was followed by a church service at the R.C. Cathedral in Kingstown.

The SJCM Elite Business Club looks forward to working with other business entities in St Vincent and the Grenadines, as we strive to continue developing the business mind whilst transforming the business world.
