More than 30 teachers from 14 secondary schools across St Vincent and the Grenadines gathered at Frenches House in Kingstown for the first such workshop of its kind.

The aim of the workshop was to bring together Coordinating Teachers of Young Leaders in one common space and provide an opportunity for dialogue. As a result, those teachers are now better placed to guide their Young Leaders in preparing a winning project and have developed a network of support among them. Judges Muriel Fraser and Dr Haydyn Marshall, were the main facilitators of the workshop.

The theme for this year’s RBC Young Leaders Programme is : “Be The Change.” Young Leaders are being challenged to “Be the Change” in their respective communities by assuming the responsibility to influence the mindsets, attitudes and behaviours of their schoolmates and local communities, with regard to a number of social issues. These include: bullying, substance abuse, sexting, the inappropriate use of social media and violence in schools.

The 2012 winner of the RBC Young Leaders programme was St Joseph’s Convent, Kingstown.
