A $5 million roadwork and cleaning programme is expected to commence here soon.{{more}}

Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves said in the meeting of the House of Assembly on Thursday that the programme, which was submitted by the Minister of Transport and Works, will start here shortly.

He said the sum would be split so that $2.5 million each will go towards each of the two road projects.

The first $500,000 had already been disbursed. Gonsalves said this has gone towards the purchase of oil for road repair.

It is anticipated that this project will employ close to 4,000 people, the prime minister said.
