Daniel- London has been diagnosed with Cerospinal fluid leak, which is a condition that causes fluid around the brain to leak away through her nose. The condition is caused by the development of a small defect (hole) in the skull at the base of the brain.

Relating her plight to SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday, Daniel- London said she hit her head when she had a fall in 2000.

“I didn’t take it for anything. A few months later, I notice fluid dripping from my left nostril. I didn’t take it for anything because I usually suffer with my sinus… It went on for about four months, but it wasn’t persistent at the time, so I assumed it was my sinus,” Daniel-London recounted.

The mother of two said she visited the doctor and only received medication for her sinuses. It was not until the following year, during a visit to Ear Nose and Throat Specialist Dr St Clair Thomas, tests revealed that she had Cerospinal Fluid Leak.

Following tests here, Daniel-London travelled to Trinidad and underwent Computerized Tomography (CT scan) and Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which confirmed the defect. A neurosurgeon advised that neurosurgery is needed to close the defect in the skull.

According to Daniel-London, the leaking stopped for several years but recommenced in January this year – this time, more persistent.

“If I lean forward too much, it will drip.”

Daniel-London is scheduled to leave for Trinidad on October 29.

A chef by profession, she says she has not been able to work since January and that she wants to be in best of health to take care of her six-year-old daughter who suffers from asthma and sickle cell anemia.
