Oscar King, head jeweller at the establishment in the Standard Grocery Building, said about EC$15,000 in jewellery was stolen.

“I don’t know how I’m going to repay the customers for their items. That’s my main concern, but at the moment that’s something we’ll be looking into,” he said.

He said the items stolen included gold and silver bangles, engagement rings and a number of other pieces of gold jewellery that he was repairing for customers.

King told SEARCHLIGHT the owner of the building discovered the break-in on Thursday morning.

There are three businesses operating from the top floor of the building and Tash Jewelry was the only store that was burglarised.

“I think they were targeting here,” King said.

Burglars broke through the roof of the building.

SEARCHLIGHT was also informed that this was not the first break-in attempt at the building, but was the first successful burglary. (AA)
