A press release dated Monday September 12, 2011 issued by the Ministry of Education stated that the University of Cambridge International Examinations has announced that they will no longer be offering the GCE O’level effective January 2012.

SEARCHLIGHT spoke briefly with Chief Education Officer Louanne Gilchrist, who stated that the reason why the examination was discontinued was because it is too expensive for the University of Cambridge to continue the examinations here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The release further states that the University of Cambridge International Examinations is offering an alternative to the GCE O levels. Principals or private candidates who are interested are asked to contact the Local Registrar at the Ministry of Education. (OS)
