Licensed firearms holders to form National Association

Holders of licences for firearms in the state held a meeting yesterday,, September 1, 2011, in an effort to form a National Shooting Range Association.{{more}}

The meeting was held at the Old Montrose Police Station.

Yesterday’s meeting was expected to examine a constitution for the Association, to determine a membership fee, as well as fees for the usage of the Shooting Range at Arnos Vale.

Other matters that were expected to have come up for discussion at the meeting were the sale of firearms and ammunition, and the training of licensed operators in the use and care of firearms.

Police Commissioner Keith Miller and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security Godfred Pompey were expected to make short addresses at the meeting.
