GCMCU holds Junior Savers Awards

“Save today for a brighter future” was the theme under which the Georgetown/Mt. Coke Circuit Methodist Credit Union Ltd held its Junior Savers Outreach and Bursary Awards, on Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at the Mt. Coke Methodist Church.{{more}}

Laverne Warrican, Chairperson of the Education Committee, in her address stressed that she would like to see one Scholarship, along with Bursaries, presented to Junior Savers who are successful at the Common Entrance Examination in 2012.

Judith Hull-Ballah, Director, Roving Care Givers gave the Feature Address. She challenged the Savers to be disciplined and determined when saving, and that there must be some direction for saving. She also emphasized that those who have stopped saving should start again and those who are saving regularly must continue to do so.

Included in the day’s event was the presentation of Bursaries to four Junior Savers who were successful at the Common Entrance Examinations 2011. They were Alron Harry, the top Common Entrance performer, who also received a special token, Norvelene Matthews, Garth Bullock and Raheed Browne. The Bursaries were presented by Hermina Robinson, Past President. Parents and well-wishers also witnessed the presentation.
