The Breadfruit Festival will take place tomorrow, Saturday, August 20, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at the Beachfront Restaurant in Chateaubelair. Planned activities include a cultural fashion show, performances by the Rose Hall Drummers, Maypole dancing and a children’s bouncing castle. New this year is an Iron Man race in which participants will compete in strength and stamina in an event combining running and swimming.

Members of the North Leeward communities will be offering an array of exotic breadfruit dishes, which will be sold at various stalls during the event.

Initiated in 2003 by the NLTA, the Chateaubelair Breadfruit Festival has served to develop, promote, and preserve cultural heritage and national pride in St. Vincent’s North Leeward communities. The annual event has since become a widely attended yearly event that celebrates this unique region of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
