SOL awards five St. Vincent Grammar School students for excellence

On Wednesday, June 22, 2011, SOL EC LTD awarded five students from the St. Vincent Grammar School for achieving excellence in both their academic and social accomplishments.{{more}} The award to the students is part of Sol’s annual commitment to the school over the past two years to give back to its community by contributing specifically in the area of Education.

In 2010, Sol partnered with the Grammar School to reward one student from each form for diligent work not only in academic excellence but also in leadership, good conduct, and involvement in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, as a way of encouraging them to fulfil the school’s motto “Per Aspera Ad Astra”, “Through hardships to the stars” when translated. In 2010, Sol gave a plaque for recognition of this work. However, this year, 2011, Sol added to that by also giving EC$200.00 to each of the students, which was greatly appreciated by the Grammar School, but even more so by the boys.

Sales Supervisor John Jacobs remarked: “Sol is extremely pleased with the young leaders which are emerging from within the St. Vincent Grammar School each year. Sol will continue to throw its support behind the school and its students since we recognize that encouraging and rewarding these students openly can only help to further develop them into well-rounded and responsible citizens of St. Vincent. We encourage the students to keep up the good work and to continue to aim for the stars”.

The recipients for 2011 were Christian Friday -Form 1; Te-Jay Cordice – Form 2; Kyle James – Form 3; John Rickards – Form 4; Taj Lee – Form 5. The presentations were made by Yolande Barbour, Accountant for Sol EC Ltd. – St.Vincent Branch.
