LIME Prepaid rate increases coming in August

Telecoms provider LIME has announced that it will introduce new rates for mobile prepaid service effective August 12, 2011.{{more}}

With the rate increase, which will affect calls to LIME mobiles and landlines, LIME says it “continues to offer the lowest, most competitive mobile rates and best value to the St. Vincent and the Grenadines public”.

According to a statement from the company, this is not the company’s usual response in such matters.

“In fact, despite the rise in the inflation across the Caribbean over the last year, and the re-building of our network infrastructure after a number of damaging storms and hurricanes, LIME has consistently taken the decision to absorb increasing costs of providing these services,” the release said.

In announcing the new rate structure, LIME’s General Manager Angus Steele said “Our business too has been impacted by the rising costs of raw materials, including utilities, copper and other materials, so we had to introduce a rate adjustment at this time.”

Steele also sought to assure customers that they will continue to enjoy value added services from the company.

“Our rates remain the lowest on island, and we are always looking for ways to add value to our product, as we have done with our current LIME Faves, which gives our customers unlimited talk time and free text messaging to their favourite callers. Talk 24 is another value filled proposition, which allows customers to talk unlimitedly to other LIME numbers for as low as $5 daily.”
