This Monday, June 13, the Ladies In Fellowship Together (LIFT) group journeyed to the Lewis Punnett Home where they brought inspiration to the appreciative residents there.
While there, the women sang choruses, prayed, shared snacks and distributed a number of personal items to the 49 male and 43 female residents at the institution for the elderly.
Group Leader Jackelle Kirby said that the effort was once again to show that a church is more than the walls of a building, and also lauded the staff for their work with the men and women, most of whom require extra care and attention.
âThis is our way to show the overflowing love for Jesus Christ.â Kirby said.
âWe know it is not an easy task for the nurses and others who have to care for the residents, so we are trying to make things a little easier today.â
The women also presented a cake to the staff of the institution which was commissioned in 1946.
Sister Andrea Peniston, the Head Nurse at the home, thanked the women for making the presentation to the Home.
âWe trust that God will continue to bless you, and we thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to perform these duties.â
Most of the items donated were bought by the women through personal contributions, with telecommunications provider LIME and wholesalers Premier Distributors also assisting with the donations.
This is the second of three projects that the women of LIFT have committed to undertaking this year, the first being a donation of items to the pediatric ward of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, which was done in March.(JJ)
