Descendants of Argyle Indians to stage family day at Argyle

In keeping with this year’s celebrations of the 150th anniversary of Indian Arrival in St. Vincent and the Grenadines,{{more}} a committee of descendants of Indians who lived on Argyle Estate has decided to stage a Family Day event on Sunday 12 June commencing at 10 a.m. at Argyle in recognition of the contribution of their ancestors to the development of various communities and to St. Vincent and the Grenadines in general. The event will take place in the vicinity of the old sugar mill on the new Argyle bypass.

A number of social and sporting events are planned and will include cricket, fashion and talent show, music and food. Participants are invited to bring along their own home prepared Indian cuisine for sharing. One of the highlights will be the recognition of older members of the Indian community particularly those who were born at Argyle. Invitations will also be extended leading members of the community.

The event is billed as a family fun day and everyone is invited to come along and share in the experience.
