No one in custody for assault on 10-year-old

Police say that they are working diligently in efforts to crack the case in which a 10-year-old girl was abducted and raped.{{more}}

The child, who resides in a village in the South Leeward constituency, was removed from her home at knife point while other members of her family slept during the morning of Sunday, March 6.

It was reported that she was physically and sexually assaulted by her abductor.

According to officials at the Questelles Police Station, where the matter is being investigated, they are yet to make any arrests in the crime which has been widely condemned by Vicentians.

The official said that one individual taken in for questioning on Wednesday this week was not related to the investigations, as was believed by villagers.

The Grade Four pupil is said to be recovering from the physical injuries received during her ordeal.(JJ)
